Rosalind Nashashibi

FR : Rosalind Nashashibi est une artiste visuelle dont la pratique hybride se situe au croisement entre cinéma, peinture, photographie, sculpture et édition. Diplômée de la Sheffield Hallam University et de la Glasgow School of Art, elle reçoit le prix Becks Futures en 2003. En 2020, elle est artiste en résidence à la National Gallery de Londres. Ses films questionnent l’Histoire et ses images dans une approche de fiction documentaire, puisant régulièrement dans la science-fiction, la spéculation et le geste graphique, qu’elle complète par l’usage du 16mm. Son travail explore les réponses psychiques et subconscientes apportées par l’expérience de réalités fracturées et de récits dominants, notamment à travers le tissage de liens sociaux, qu’ils soient de l’ordre de la communauté (Electric Gaza, 2015) ou des constructions familiales (Vivian’s Garden, 2017). Son travail a été exposé, entre autres, à la Document 14, à la Manifesta 7, à la 10ème Biennale de Sharjah, au CAC de Vilnius et au Kunstinstuut Melly de Rotterdam.

EN : Rosalind Nashashibi is a visual artist working with mixed media such as cinema, painting, photography, sculpture and publishing. She graduated from the Sheffield Hallam University and the Glasgow School of Art. In 2003, she was granted the Becks Futures Prize and was an artist in residence at the London National Gallery in 2020. Her films question History and its images through a 16mm lense and a fictional documentary approach, regularly drawing on science fiction, speculation and graphic gestures. Her work explores the psychological and subconscious responses to fractures embodied realities and dominant discourses, particularly through the weaving of social ties, whether within the community (Electrical Gaza, 2015) or family constructions (Vivian’s Garden, 2017). Her work has been exhibited at Document 14, Manifesta 7, the 10th Sharjah Biennial, the CAC in Vilnius, and the Kunstinstuut Melly in Rotterdam, among others.
