Après avoir étudié le cinéma à l’Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) où elle enseigne, Bénédicte Liénard défend un geste cinématographique qui uni documentaire et fiction. Son premier film TETES AUX MURS est un documentaire qui est à l’origine de la fiction UNE PART DU CIEL (Cannes 2002, Sélection officielle, Un certain regard). Elle met en scène TOUS LES AUTRES S’APPELLENT ZEKI, théâtre documentaire, D’ARBRES ET DE CHARBON, film autobiographique (sélectionné à Visions du Réel).
Elle est également à l’initiative d’ateliers d’expression en prison et en centre d’accueil pour réfugiés où elle explore des formes de cinéma plus expérimentales.
After studying cinema at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) where she teaches, Bénédicte Liénard defends a cinematographic approach that unites documentary and fiction. Her first film TETES AUX MURS is a documentary that gave rise to the fiction UNE PART DU CIEL (Cannes 2002, Official Selection, Un certain regard). She directed TOUS LES AUTRES S’APPELLENT ZEKI, a documentary theatre, and D’ARBRES ET DE CHARBON, an autobiographical film (selected at Visions du Réel).
She has also initiated self-expression workshops in prisons and refugee centres, where she explores more experimental forms of cinema.
