Renée Nader Messora

Renée Nader Messora (1979) a obtenu un diplôme en cinématographie à l’Universidad del Cine, à Buenos Aires. Pendant 15 ans, elle a travaillé comme assistante réalisatrice sur plusieurs projets au Brésil, en Argentine et au Portugal, dont MOUNTAIN , le premier long métrage de João Salaviza. Elle a photographié le court métrage POHÍ , qui lui a permis de faire connaissance avec le peuple Krahô. Depuis, elle travaille avec la communauté, contribuant à l’organisation d’un collectif de jeunes cinéastes qui utilisent le cinéma comme outil pour renforcer l’identité culturelle et l’autodétermination du peuple Krahô. En 2017, elle a photographié le court-métrage RUSSA , réalisé par Ricardo Alves Junior et João Salaviza, qui a été présenté en première mondiale à la compétition officielle de la Berlinale 2018. Toujours en 2018, son premier long métrage, THE DEAD AND THE OTHERS (coréalisé avec João Salaviza) a été présenté en avant-première au Festival de Cannes, recevant le Prix spécial du jury - Un certain regard. Le film a fait l’objet d’une sortie commerciale dans plusieurs pays, notamment en France où il a été vu par 45 000 spectateurs. THE BURITI FLOWER est son deuxième long métrage, coréalisé avec João Salaviza et tourné sur une période de quinze mois dans la terre indigène de Krahô.

Renée Nader Messora (1979) graduated in Cinematography from the Universidad del Cine, in Buenos Aires. For 15 years, she worked as an assistant director on several projects in Brazil, Argentina and Portugal, including MOUNTAIN, João Salaviza’s first feature film. She photographed the short film POHÍ, through which she got to know the Krahô people. Since then, she ́s been working with the community, contributing to the organization of a collective of young filmmakers who use cinema as a tool to strengthen the cultural identity and self-determination of the Krahô people. In 2017, she photographed the short film RUSSA, directed by Ricardo Alves Junior and João Salaviza, which premiered at the 2018 Berlinale Official Competition. Also in 2018, her first feature film, THE DEAD AND THE OTHERS (co-directed with João Salaviza) premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, receiving the Special Jury Prize – Un Certain Regard. The film was released commercially in several countries, notably France where it was seen by 45,000 spectators. THE BURITI FLOWER is her second feature film, co-directed with João Salaviza and shot over a period of fifteen months in the Krahô Indigenous Land.
