Call for entries 2024

Film submissions are now open for competitions of the 5th edition of the Documentary Film Festival En ville ! (In town !). The festival competitions will be held from 29 January to 4 February 2024 in Brussels.

The festival En ville ! (In town) is a documentary film festival about our territories, their imaginary, and those who inhabit and/or bring them to life.
En ville ! is a multifaceted and inclusive festival, where to see unique creative documentaries and engage into cinema and society debates in a convivial atmosphere and takes place in January / February 2024 in Brussels.

RULES
Conditions

  • The films submitted are documentary films about our territories, and those who inhabit them and/or bring them to life.
  • This call is open to Belgian films, - short and feature films
  • For non-French-speaking films, French subtitles are available. Ideally, Dutch subtitles are also available.
  • Films submitted must have been completed after 1 January 2023

Participation
All information on the films submitted should be provided on the form provided (link above). Only complete forms will be examined.

Selection
The Selection Committee is chaired by the Artistic Director of the Festival and composed of representatives of the documentary film sector. The film selection is in line with the spirit of the festival.
The selection results will be communicated to the right holders of the submitted films before the 15 december 2023, at the latest.

Invitation to filmmakers
The selected filmmakers will be invited to take part in the Festival and accompany their films (expenses covered by the festival).

Awards
The selected films participate to various documentary film competition. Several prizes are awarded by an independant jury, including the Grand Prix - Agnès (5000€) for egalitarian imagination (5,000€), and the Région Bruxelles-Capitale prize (€3,500). These prizes are given to the authors of the awarded films.

Rights
The person who registers the film guarantees that he/she/they hold(s) all the necessary authorizations as well as the copyright, image rights of people and goods, exploitation and broadcasting rights.

Screening materials
DCPs or screening files of selected films must be received by the Festival by Tuesday 15 January 2024, at the latest. 

Screenings
The selection of films entered for competitions means that the rights holders have authorised a maximum of 2 public screenings as part of the festival En ville !

Promotion / Communication
The promotional material (press kit, photos, video extracts, etc.) sent by the rights holders may be used by the festival for promotional purposes in support of the film on our various communication media. You agree to send it to us as soon as the selection is announced, and no later than 15 December 2023.

Commitment
The rights holders of the winning films are required to include the Prize logo on their promotional material (posters, postcards, press kits, website, film credits).

Sanitary situation
Our top priority is to welcome directors and audience in a safe environment. If the sanitary situation does not allow us to do so, the team reserves the right to postpone, go online or propose a redesigned format of the festival. The rights holders of the selected films will be informed as soon as possible and have 48 hours to accept the updated proposal or withdraw their film(s) from the competition. After this period, we will consider that the rights holders accept our proposal.

The sooner the better, and no later than 3 November 2023
